¡Bienvenidos a la clase de español!
Bienvenidos al español. Welcome to Spanish. You have chosen to become a part of a dynamic and challenging class that will test your intellectual capabilities. We will explore from within our classroom walls the language and culture of Spain, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Ecuador, the Dominican Republic, and parts of the United States where Spanish-speakers flourish. This class may challenge preconceived notions you have about yourself, your culture, and cultures different from your own. While this class is not difficult, it will require considerable time. In order to be successful, students must read, write, listen, and speak in Spanish every day. Students must also complete all the activities in the textbook as well as additional assignments. Throughout the course of the year, I will share strategies that will help you succeed.
Do not hesitate to come to me for help or advice. Some will find this class easy and others may find it more difficult; likewise, some strategies will work for one student, but a different student may need another approach. If you have a question, please ask. I am here to help you be successful!
You are about to learn the second language of the United States and the 4th most widely spoken language on the planet. This is a great step toward enhancing your cultural sensitivity and becoming part of the global society in which we live. I congratulate you and look forward to the year together. Go Lancers!
Sincerely,
Señorita Rohwer
